This season’s fashion week events wrapped up with the runway show of Marcel Ostertag. It was our first season working with the Berlin based designer and what a pleasure it was to be a part of his team. The collection showed on Wednesday evening to a crowd of 400 and showcased looks inspired by the life of fly. The season’s trademark insect prints were showcased on seventies silhouettes throughout the collection. A dayfly is supported by scarabs, which represents eternity and infinity while the many other featured insects represent life and the constant flow of change. A metamorphosis printed on silk demonstrated how multifaceted the life is that surrounds us each. Other species of fauna, which has always inspired Marcel Ostertag, was printed on sateen cotton and satin silk and was ornamented with delicate embroidery.
As the designer took his bow, the backstage of Gallery III was already being torn down in preparation for the next events at Skylight Clarkson Square. And that’s a wrap for our NYFW events as well. Until next time…
